Chill is dedicated to fostering inclusion and a sense of belonging for the youth we serve across the boardsport community. Through our program curriculum, alumni initiatives, and dedication to increasing access to the outdoors, we work to create lasting systemic change.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

We view our commitment to DEI as a form of resistance and protest of the status quo that upholds and perpetuates systems of oppression.<\/span><\/p>

We take action by expanding access to boardsports for communities historically excluded from these spaces. <\/span>We create opportunities for growth by amplifying underrepresented voices and building a values-driven curriculum centered on equity and inclusion. <\/span><\/p>

Our DEI Organizational Model<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

DEI at Chill is everywhere. It is who we are and what we do. It cannot be defined by a single metric or <\/span>dashboard<\/span> or action step. <\/span>One way we drive the work forward is through an evidence-informed DEI <\/span>staff <\/span>survey deployed every 2 years to guide key areas of focus for the coming years. Examples of past focus areas fall under pillars of <\/span>staff <\/span>voice, <\/span>equity<\/span> and growth. <\/span>The Senior Leadership team <\/span>is responsible for<\/span> implementing action steps within the pillars and holds itself accountable to staff.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>

Organizational work is conducted by the Senior Team in collaboration with a DEI Co-op, made up of staff members of varying identities with representation from all Chill departments. DEI work at Chill is further defined by a learning agenda and speaker series that aims to offer perspectives from a diversity of voices who are active in the outdoor space, sharing about their work and experience in the industry.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cA core value that really stuck with me at Chill is <\/span>respect, because<\/span> it’s<\/span> so easy to not have respect for others. Chill helped me to stop judging people, and ask them how their day is, have <\/span>a good time<\/span> with them, because everyone’s human.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
